Biology. The hosts are most species of Pyralidae (Lepidoptera) , including: Bissetia steniella (Hampson, 1899) , Chilo auricilius (Dudgeon, 1905) , Chilo ceylonicus , Chilo indicus (Kapur) , Chilo infuscatellus Snellen, 1890 , Chilo partellus (Swinhoe, 1885) , Chilo suppressalis (Walker, 1863) , Chilo tumidicostalis (Hampson) , Chilo zonellus (Swinhoe, 1884) , Glaucocharis reniella Wang et Sung, 1988 , Schoenobius bipunctifer (Walker) , Scirpophaga incertulas (Walker, 1863) , Scirpophaga innotata (Walker, 1863) and Scirpophaga nivella (Fabricius, 1794) ; and one species of Brachodidae (Lepidoptera) : Procerata venosata (Walker, 1863) ( Ramakrishna Ayyar 1928; Sonan 1944; Trehan et Butani 1950; Yasumatsu 1967; Saxena 1972; Nagarkatti et Nair 1973; Chou 1981; Chishti et Quicke 1996; Yu et al. 2016).

Distribution. China (Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Taiwan, Yunnan, *Zhejiang); Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam.

Note. Sonan (1944) first reported this species from Taiwan (SE. China); Chu et al. (1978) reported this species from Guangdong and Taiwan (SE. China), Guizhou (SW. China); Zheng et al. (1986) reported this species from Yunnan (SW. China) and He et Wang (1987) from Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan (SE. China), Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan (SW. China); finally, He et al. (2002) reported this species from Fujian and Hainan (SE. China), Guizhou (SW. China).
