Urtica pilulifera Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 983. 1753.

Lectotype (Monro in Monro & Spencer in Taxon 54: 797. 2005): Herb. Clifford: 440, Urtica 1 (BM-000647369) .

Current name: Urtica pilulifera L. ( Urticaceae ).

Note: Although Bhopal & Chaudhri (in Pakistan Syst. 1(2): 42. 1977) indicated unspecified material in LINN as the holotype, the only material there associated with this name (1111.1) lacks the relevant Species Plantarum number (i.e. “1”) and was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and is not original material for the name.
