Material examined. None.

Distribution. West Pacific (the Ryukyus, Taiwan, China (?), Philippines, Indonesia [including Sumatra], New Guinea).

Remarks. There have been several old records of “ U. dussumieri ” from China (see references under Uca paradussumieri ), but Crane (1975) identified them as U. paradussumieri Bott, 1973 (= U. dussumieri spinata Crane, 1975 ). However, there has also been a subsequent record of U. dussumieri from Guangdong ( Dai et al. 1986; Dai & Yang 1991; Yang et al. 2008), identified on the basis of an old specimen from Hong Kong without collection date (S.-L. Yang, personal communication). U. dussumieri has not been present in any of the material from China that we have examined (see Material examined for Uca paradussumieri ). The two species are rarely sympatric ( Crane 1975). U. dussumieri is a medium-sized species with the largest one is 27 mm ( Crane 1975; also see Key in this study). The CW of the above old “ U. dussumieri ” specimen from Hong Kong is 33 mm ( Dai et al. 1986; Dai & Yang 1991) which agree with the size range of the large-sized U. paradussumieri ( Crane 1975) . Therefore, the presence of U. dussumieri in China is doubtful at best and more collections will be needed to confirm its presence. It is included here as a doubtful record.
