Arthrobrachus scutellaris R. A. Philippi & F. Philippi, 1864

Arthrobrachus scutellaris R. A. Philippi & F. Philippi, 1864: 273 .

Two paralectotypes are deposited in NMPC (ex coll. Nickerl):

PARALECTOTYPE (unsexed specimen): ‘Philippi / typ. [hw] // Arthrobrach. / scutellaris. / Philippi typ. Chili [hw, green label, black margin] // Syn- / typus [p, red label, black margin]’.

PARALECTOTYPE (unsexed specimen):‘Philippi / typ.[hw] //Arthrobrach [hw, green label, black margin] // scutellaris / Phil. Chili [hw, green label, black margin] // Syn- / typus [p, red label, black margin] // Arthrobrachus / scutellatus PHILIPPI [hw] / K. Majer det. [p] 1981 [hw]’.

Current status. Junior subjective synonym of Arthrobrachus nigromaculatus Solier, 1849 , see ESTRADA & SOLERVICENS (1999).

Remark. PHILIPPI & PHILIPPI (1864) described this species based on six specimens. ESTRADA & SOLERVICENS (1999) designated a lectotype and three paralectotypes from the syntype series deposited in Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Santiago, Santiago, Chile. Because there is no doubt about the authenticity of the two specimens housed in NMPC, we have labelled them as additional paralectotypes.
