Myopsocus chocoensis n. sp.

( Figs 103–108 View FIGURES 103–108 )

Diagnosis. Belonging to the assemblage of species that does not present the forewing with the apical margin of some of its cells scalloped, but unlike these it presents hypandrium with two short rounded apical processes, these with teeth on the outer margin, phallosome ovoid with side strut broadly united basally; external parameres clearly differentiated, elongate and acuminate and well-developed aedeagal arch ( Fig. 108 View FIGURES 103–108 ).

Male. Color. Head ( Fig. 105 View FIGURES 103–108 ) brown, with scattered light brown spots. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Antenna pale brown, cream apically; maxillary palps brown. Forewing ( Fig. 103 View FIGURES 103–108 ) with brown spots and hyaline areas, pterostigma brown filled with small brown spots that extends outside the margin, while retaining its shape, alar margin dotted, veins pale brown, some dotted. Hindwing ( Fig. 104 View FIGURES 103–108 ) smoked, with veins pale brown and dotted costal margin. Legs: coxae and trochanter dark brown, femora dark brown proximally, light brown distally, with subapical brown spot, tibiae and tarsi pale brown, t2–t3 darker. Hypandrium, phallosome, paraprocts and epiproct pale brown.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. x): H/MxW: 1.27; compound eyes large, H/D: 1.89; IO/MxW: 0.58. Vertex slightly emarginated, slightly below upper margin of compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with five denticles; Mx4/Mx2: 1.30. Forewings ( Fig. 103 View FIGURES 103–108 ): L/W: 2.60. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 1.91, areola postica wider than tall, apically angled: al/ah: 1.47. Hindwings ( Fig. 104 View FIGURES 103–108 ): l/w: 2.77. Hypandrium trianguliform ( Fig. 107 View FIGURES 103–108 ), anterior border concave; apically with two short rounded processes, these with teeth on the outer margin, with several macrosetae. Phallosome ovoid side strut broadly united basally; external parameres clearly differentiated, elongate and acuminate; well-developed aedeagal arch ( Fig. 108 View FIGURES 103–108 ). Paraprocts with short process directed inward ( Fig. 106 View FIGURES 103–108 ), with a field of setae and macrosetae on distal area; sensory fields with 22 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct ( Fig. 106 View FIGURES 103–108 ) semioval, anterior margin concave, anterolateral angles with processes directed toward the clunium; with setae and macrosetae as illustrated.
