Genus Breviterebra Kusigemati, 1982 View in CoL View at ENA

Type species: Breviterebra laticlypeata Kusigemati, 1982 View in CoL (by monotypy and original designation).

Diagnosis. Body short and stout; inner margins of eyes weakly convergent ventrally and weakly indented opposite antennal sockets; face separated from clypeus by a weak groove; clypeus convex, its apical margin blunt, truncated, slightly concave medially; mandible medium-sized, with a narrow lamella on lower margin, lower tooth a little shorter than upper tooth; temple not swollen; occipital carina reaching hypostomal carina at mandible base; mesopleuron with densely medium-sized punctures; propodeum areolated, area superomedial hexagonal, separated from area petiolaris by a distinct carina; area petiolaris flat; propodeal spiracle oval; fore wing areolet absent, portion of vein M between 2rs-m and 2m-cu ca. 0.8× as long as 2rs-m, vein 1cu-a slightly distad of M&RS; hind wing vein CU&cu-a inclivous, intercepted at its lower half, 2-CU reaching CU&cu-a, unpigmented. Legs with tarsal claws moderately long, weakly pectinate basally; hind basitarsus without a midventral row of closely spaced setae; first metasomal segment with spiracles situated at apical 0.3, sternite ends before spiracle, glymma large; ovipositor short, about as long as apical depth of metasoma.

Remarks. Kusigemati (1982) described fore wing vein 1cu-a distad of M&RS by ca 0.3 × its own length, but checking carefully his figure 4 we find 1cu-a is only slightly distad of M&RS. Combined with our specimens, we conclude that fore wing vein 1cu-a is only slightly distad of M&RS in both known species.
