Diagnosis. This species is similar to E. mercurella ( Linnaeus, 1758) in male, but can be distinguished by the female genitalia with colliculum about one fourth length of ductus bursae and the ductus bursae having a loop at about middle. In E. mercurella , the colliculum is about half length of ductus bursae and the ductus bursae has two loops before colliculum. This species also resembles E. rectilineata sp. n. in the male genitalia, but can be distinguished by the dentate postmedian line of the forewing concave conspicuously at posterior one third; by the signum situated at posterior one third of the corpus bursae and the appendix bursae arising from the lateromedian portion of the corpus bursae in the female genitalia. In E. rectilineata sp. n., the posterior two thirds of the postmedian line is straight; the signum is placed at the anterior third of the corpus bursae and the appendix bursae arises from the anterior portion of the corpus bursae at middle.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ): Forewing length 8.0–10.0 mm. Frons pale brown. Vertex pale brown mixed with white. Labial palpus blackish brown; first segment white ventrally at base. Maxillary palpus blackish brown, white basally, apex white mixed with pale brown. Antenna with scapus blackish brown dorsally, white ventrally; flagellomeres blackish brown on dorsal surface, pale yellow on ventral surface. Patagium pale yellow to pale brown. Thorax greyish white. Tegula blackish brown, posterior margin with long, pale brown-tipped pale yellow scales. Forewing covered with dense blackish brown scales; antemedian line white, outcurved at anterior and posterior one fourth respectively, incurved at middle; antemedian stigmata blackish brown, streaklike, connected with antemedian line; distal discoidal stigma blackish brown, 8-shaped, connected with blackish brown spot at costa; postmedian line white, sinuate, meeting costa and dorsum perpendicularly, acutely dentated towards distal discoidal stigma, acutely bending inwards at posterior third; subterminal line white, medially incurved conspicuously, roughly forming an immarginate 8-shaped pattern together with postmedian line; terminal spots black, distinct; termen dark brown; fringe yellowish white, subbasal line pale brown. Hindwing greyish white to pale brown; fringe concolorous with forewing except lighter subbasal line. Abdomen pale brown, yellowish white on posterior margin of each segment.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 – 19 ): Uncus broad ovate, notched at middle on posterior margin. Gnathos slender, blunt apically. Valva narrowed near base, then broadened slightly to rounded apex, ventral margin slightly concave at basal one fourth to one third; costa almost straight. Juxta broad basally, narrowed towards blunt apex. Phallus curved slightly, longer than valva.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 25 – 27 ): Papilla anale ovate, notched posteriorly, about half as long as apophysis posterior. Tergite eight about half length of apophysis anterior. Ostium bursae twice as wide as colliculum. Antrum funnelshaped, covered with dense granules. Colliculum about one fourth length of ductus bursae, anteriorly with sparse tiny spines. Ductus bursae looped once at about middle, broadened towards corpus bursae. Corpus bursae ovate, covered with dense tiny spines; signum ovate, placed at posterior one third; appendix bursae small and rounded, arising from lateromedian portion of corpus bursae.

Distribution. China (Henan, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Xinjiang).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix singul- = single, and the Latin annulatus = annulose, in reference to the ductus bursae looped once in the female genitalia.
