Subfamily: Acridinae View in CoL
Acrida ungarica mediterranea Dirsh, 1949
Not uncommon within xeric environments, especially on karstland colonized by steppic vegetation, including andropogonid grass steppe.
Distribution. Mediterranean.
[ Truxalis nasuta (Linnaeus, 1758) ]
This species, which Valletta (1955) and Saliba (1963) regarded as “very rare” and “relatively rare” respectively, has not been recorded for almost six decades. Unless this was a case of a misidentified Acrida ungarica mediterranea , this species is likely to have been extirpated. However, it is probably a case of the former.
