Diagnosis. Male gnathopod 2 elongate, palm shorter than posterior margin, with 3 processes, the first one rounded and distally truncated near hinge of the dactylus, bearing robust setae on each side, the second one midway subacute and slightly curved anteriorly, cusps not reaching inner distal rounded (Modified from Senna & Souza- Filho 2011).
Remarks. Elasmopus longipropodus is now reported for the first time to Fernando de Noronha Archipelago and Municipality of Pirangi, Rio Grande do Norte State coasts ( Fig 29 View FIGURE 29 ). Elasmopus longipropodus is also closely related to the recently described species E. thalyae Gouilieux & Sorbe, 2015 , because of the 3 processes on palm of male gnathopod very similar in both species. The species differ by: (1) the distinct lower lip not pronounced laterally in E. longipropodus , (2) the basis posterior margin of the pereopods 6 and 7 very produced and rounded in E. thalyae , (3) telson apicolateral cusps rounded in E. longipropodus and acute in E. thalyae . Many Elasmopus species show remarkable uniformity ( Vader & Krapp-Schickel, 2012), therefore an accurate phylogenetic and biogeographic study is necessary in order to solve these taxonomic impasses.
