Chalarus latifrons Hardy, 1943: 33 .

Diagnosis: Frons of male with one pair of fronto-orbital setae (J92 Fig. 6 A & C). Coloration of body and legs dark brown. Hairs of femora light to mid brown. Hairs of body mid to dark brown. Genitalia with surstylus broadened distally (as in Fig. 31 ); Phallus ( Fig. 6 ) phs strongly curved; tdp short and broad, Lmtdp:Ltdp~3.5; the two php are narrow and distinctly shorter than mtdp; the upper ejaculatory duct is placed distally on mtdp whereas the lower two are slightly after the middle of mtdp; ejaculatory apodeme spade-shaped ( Fig. 17 ). Female with frontal facets moderately enlarged (J92 Fig. 3 A); frons only slightly narrowed, at narrowest point slightly less than 3 times diameter of largest frontal facet; flagellum dark brown; femora dark brown; tibiae dark brown but paler distally, tarsi light brown; pulvilli of front and mid legs twice the length of hind legs and longer than distitarsus; hairs on femora, thorax and abdomen light to mid brown; hind femur with apical hairs of pdsr extending further than apex; abdominal tergites dark brown; ovipositor as in Fig. 48 . Annotations: The taxon is widely distributed, being cited from the northern Neotropics ( Rafael 1990), Nearctic (locus typicus), western and eastern Palaearctic region (this study — specimen CK131 is from China). Jervis (1992) lists Kybos butleri (Edwards) and K. smaragdula (Fallén) as host species.
