Diagnosis.

This species is distinguished from congeners by the following combination of characters: Head (Fig. 12). Thorax: dark orangish brown; acrostichal setulae in 6 rows; legs yellow; forefemur bearing comb of closely set, peglike setae along distal half of anteroventral surface; midfemur bearing ctenidial comb of setae on distal half of posteroventral surface. Abdomen: Male terminalia (Figs 13-14): length of anterior surstylar-like lobe equal to or slightly shorter than surstylus; anterior surstylar-like lobe somewhat kidney shaped; surstylus bearing normal to slightly developed setae, none thickly developed.

Remarks.

This species was known previously only from the Indo-Pacific area, and its occurrence in the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, and now in Brazil represents a significant range extension.
