Figure 1–2 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2

Description. Male. Body small and stout. Fastigium verticis conical, apex obtusely rounded, dorsal surface faintly furrowed along the midline ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Eyes nearly semiglobular, projecting outwards. Apical segments of maxillary palpi shorter than subapical ones, apices faintly inflated ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ).

Anterior margin of pronotum almost straight, posterior margin widely rounded; lateral lobes longer than deep, narrowing to backward, humeral sinus absent ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ).

Tegmina slightly surpassing posterior margin of pronotum, reaching the posterior margin of tergum I. Hind wings absent.

All femora unarmed on ventral surface. Fore coxae with 1 stout spine; fore and middle tibiae ventrally with 4 pairs of spines and 1 pair of apical spurs; tympana of fore tibiae oval, open on both sides. Genicular lobes of hind femora with apices rounded; tibiae with 21 internal and 25 external spines, apices with 1 pair of dorsal spurs and 2 pairs of ventral spurs.

Ninth abdominal tergite with lateral surfaces elongated backward on both sides, the posterior lobes adjacent to each other and curved ventrally ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ), roughly triangular in apical view ( Fig. 1G View FIGURE 1 ), internal margins of each lobe almost straight, external margins converging subapical area concave, apical area triangularly expanded ( Fig. 1F, G View FIGURE 1 ). Tergum X short, posterior margin arched concave. Cerci stout and conical, apical area sclerotized and incurved, apices acute. Genitalia sclerotized, basal area broad, posterior margin split along the middle, the lateral lobes widely rounded ( Fig. 1H, I View FIGURE 1 ). Subgenital plate with base broad and then faintly narrowing, basal margin concave; posterior margin only with a subrectangular median lobe and two small lateral lobes, apex of median lobe arched with small spines ( Fig. 1J View FIGURE 1 ). Styli long and directing outward, conical, apices rounded, inserted on lateral margins near apical area of subgenital plate ( Fig. 1J View FIGURE 1 ).

Female. Posterior margin of tergum IX arched concave; tergum X narrow, posterior margin straight; epiproct roughly triangular. Cerci stout, conical, apices acute. Ovipositor stout, moderately upcurved behind base, dorsal and ventral margins smooth, apices of acute ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ). Subgential plate about two times longer than wide, apical half with 1 large triangular concavity, the lateral lobes triangular and curved dorsally with apex obtuse ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ).

Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Head with dorsum brown, eyes brown. Antennal socket with brown margins, and internal margins of basal two segments of antennae brown, flagellum with brownish ring at apical area of each segment. Disc of pronotum with brown spots, margins of lateral lobes brown. Apices and external surface of femora brown, bases of apices of tibiae blackish brown. Dorsal surface of abdomen yellowish brown, lateral margins black brown.

Measurements (mm). Body: ♁ 9.9, ♀ 10.2; pronotum: ♁ 4. 5, ♀ 3.2; tegmen: ♁ 2.0, ♀ 1.8; hind femur: ♁ 8.6, ♀ 8.8; ovipositor: 6.3.

Material examined. Holotype: male ( GXNU), Sanjiangkou , Mugan, Daguan, Yunnan, August 10, 2022, coll. Xiaojuan Huang. Other specimen: 1 female ( HBU), Mugan, Daguan , Yunnan, July 19, 2006, coll. by Xiao Guo.

Distribution. Yunnan (Daguan).

Discussion. This new species differs from Sinocosmetura sanjiangkouensis Guo, Shi & Chang, 2021 in: male ninth abdominal tergite with lateral surfaces elongated backwards on both sides, the left and right posterior lobes adjacent to each other, internal margins of each lobe almost straight, external margins converging, apical area triangularly expanded; posterior margin of male subgenital plate rectangular projecting; posterior margin of female subgenital plate with a large triangular concavity.

Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from the lateral margins of male ninth abdominal tergite obviously projecting posteriorly forming a pair of long processes.
