Diatrype bullata (Hoffm.) Fr., Summa veg. Scand., Section Post.: 385. 1849.

Stromata circular, ellipsoid or irregularly shaped, sometimes confluent, slightly convex, light to dark brown, 2–7 mm diam., surrounded by a black line within the substrate; perithecia monostichous or distichous, singly erumpent, 200– 300 µm diam., with short and stellate at the top ostiolar necks. Asci cylindrical, paraphysate, 25–30 × 5–7 µm in spore bearing part, stalks of different length, containing 8 biseriate ascospores, apical ring tiny and amyloid. Ascospores one-celled, allantoid, slightly yellowish, very thin, 7.5–9 µm long.

Despite this is a rather common species on Salix spp. in the temperate forests of the northern hemisphere, we did not encounter it during our collecting trips, and it is indicated here in accordance with its record in Heilongjiang Province ( Kobayashi & Zhao 1989). The description is prepared on the basis of some specimens from the Russian Far East .
