Type material. CHINA, Henan: Holotype ♂, Qihe, Lushi, 1500 m, 27.V.2000, leg. HL Yu, slide No. SH 19084.
Diagnosis. The new species is similar to N. degeerella ( Linnaeus, 1758) superficially. It can be distinguished by the tegumen with a triangular plate extending from middle to posterior 1/5, the inverted V-shaped uncus, the phallus with denticles and sclerotized belts but without spines. In N. degeerella , the tegumen lacks a triangular plate, the uncus is dome-shaped, the phallus has spines and has neither denticles nor sclerotized belts ( Küppers 1980: 261, fig. 75).
Description. Adult ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 13‒18 ). Male wingspan 18.0 mm.
Head: Vertex black; frons grayish brown. Eye interocular index 0.47. Proboscis yellowish brown. Labial palpus short, 0.82 × vertical eye diameter; yellow, with black hairs. Antenna 3.5 × length of forewing; scape dark purplish brown except bluish brown on posterior margin; flagellum grayish brown except dark brown in basal 1/6.
Thorax: Mesonotum golden yellow; tegula purplish bronzy except blue distally. Forewing ground color yellowish brown, costal margin purplish brown from beyond outer fascia to apex, termen golden yellow; three silvery gray streaks, edged with black scales: first streak from base to 2/5 along costal margin, with purple luster, second streak from base to near 3/4 of cell on posterior margin, third streak from base to 2/5 of wing along 1A+2A; four black lines: first line from base to 2/5 of wing along R 1, second line from basal 1/3 to 2/3 of cell on anterior margin, third line from near base to 2/5 of wing along CuP, fourth line from base to 1/6 along dorsum; inner and outer fasciae silvery gray, inner fascia slightly sinuate, outer fascia curved inward, medial fascia orange yellow, from costal margin oblique inward, edged with dark brown lines; distal 1/3 with nine radiate dark purple stripes along veins from R 2 to CuA 2 respectively, edged with black scales, alternated with yellowish brown stripes; fringe brownish yellow. Hindwing grayish brown except pale brown between costal margin and Rs; fringe grayish brown. Foreleg yellow ventrally, purplish brown dorsally except tarsus yellow; midleg lost; hindleg yellow except tibia brown apically. Epiphysis yellow, at basal 1/3 of tibia, not reaching apex of tibia.
Abdomen: Dark brown.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 39‒43 ). Socius ovoid, length 1.33 × width. Tegumen without median ridge, with a triangular plate from middle to posterior 1/5. Uncus inverted V-shaped. Valva separated basally, rounded at apex, concave in middle on costal margin, slightly sinuate on ventral margin; sacculus reaching basal 3/5 of ventral margin. Transtilla with a semicircular anterior emargination, triangularly produced anterolaterally; median process narrow triangular, reaching posterior 1/4 of tegumen apically. Vinculum 2.5 × length of valva, rounded anteriorly. Phallus straight, 1.2 × length of vinculum, swollen at base, with a pair of sclerotized belts from distal 2/5 to near apex and denticles from distal 1/5 to 1/9; vesica ovoid ( Fig. 41a View FIGURES 39‒43 ). Juxta 0.60 × length of phallus; lateral arm 0.19 × length of arrow head.
Female unknown.
Distribution. China (Henan).
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from Latin purpuratus and -fera, referring to the dark purple streaks in the distal 1/3 of the forewing.
