The degeerella species group

Diagnostic characters. Adult wingspan runs from 14.0‒28.0 mm in male and 12.5‒23.0 mm in female. Eyes are not enlarged in either male or female; female antennae are thickened by black scales basally. Forewing has several streaks and lines extending from base to about middle along veins, three fasciae always placed beyond middle (medial fascia often widest) and some longitudinal stripes radiating distally in most species, and R 3 is stalked with R 4; hindwing is brown or grayish brown, with pale purple luster. In male genitalia, the triangular valva lacks a cucullus, the vinculum is pointed or rounded anteriorly, and the manica bears spines and teeth.

Forewing with distinct transverse fasciae beyond middle and R 3 stalked with R 4 are possibly the synapomorphies of the degeerella species group.
