Genus Songkhramodopsis gen. nov.

Type species. Songkhramodopsis meischi gen. et sp. nov. (here designated)

Etymology. The genus is named after the discovery area, the “Songkhram” River Basin and combined with “dopsis”, a short core word of cypridopsis.

Diagnosis. Carapace in lateral view elongated subtriangular, LV overlapping RV; LV and RV with inner list anteriorly and posteriorly (very well-developed in LV), and anterior marginal selvage, RV with posterior selvage widely inwardly displaced; A1 six-segmented; A2 with natatory setae well-developed, claw G2 strongly serrated in female, aesthetasc Y large with wide and striated third section; T1 of both male and female with two a setae (b, c and d setae absent); T2 with d2 seta (d1 seta absent), penultimate segment divided; T3 with distinctively separated terminal segment, pincer organ absent; CR in female with cylindrical base; Hp with bird head-shaped ls; Zenker organ with small number of spiny whorls (c. eight spiny whorls).

Remarks. The external morphology of Cp of Songkhramodopsis gen. nov. is similar to that of Brasilodopsis appearing subtriangular in lateral view. Songkhramodopsis gen. nov. can be distinguished mainly by the larger valve overlap anteriorly, the presence of anterior inner list on the RV, the widely inwardly displaced posterior selvage on the RV, the six-segmented A1 (seven-segmented in Brasilodopsis ), the strongly serrated claw G2 on female A2, the completely separated terminal segment of T3, the number of post-labyrinthal spermiduct loop (one in the new genus, two in Brasilodopsis ) and the smaller number of spiny whorls of Zenker organ (eight in the new genus, 10 in Brasilodopsis ).
