= Gymnopteris borealisinensis Kitag., Rep. First Sci. Exped. Manchoukuo 4(2): 83, t. 12. 1935. ≡ Notholaena borealisinensis (Kitag.) Fraser-Jenk. , New Species Syndr. Indian Pteridol. 183.1997.

This species is distributed across China, India, and Nepal (Chu & Zhang 2006, Zhang & Ranker 2013, Fraser-Jenkins et al. 2017).

In previous studies, Sericopteris auriculata was usually resolved as the variety of S. bipinnata ( Yin et al. 2024) . In our recent phylogenomic study, this species formed a well-supported clade of its own ( Zhao et al. 2024).

The Chinese name is suggested as ‘ ffľḡƚḋẍ (er yu juan mao luo jue)’.
