Plateros grandescapularis ( Pic, 1938) comb. et stat. nov.

Calleros bogotensis var. grandescapularis Pic, 1938: 128 .

Type material. Holotype, female, PERU “Callanga, Peróu ” without other data ( MNHN).

Diagnosis: P. grandescapularis differs from P. bogotensis Kirsch, 1865 mainly by the shape and color of pronotum, first antennomeres ratio and by the leg coloration.

Redescription: Body with ventral surface dark brown. Head dark brown, eyes small, interocular distance 1.7x longer than eye diameter. Antennae subserrate, antennomere 4 as long as 5, 2x longer than antennomere 3. Mandibles well developed, slender, labial palpi short, maxillary palpi elongate, palpomere 4 wide, 1.2x longer than palpomere 2 and 2x longer than palpomere 3. Pronotum subpentagonal, 1.1x wider than long medially, longitudinal median line channeled at basal ½, posterior angles obliquely projected backwards, posterior margin slightly bisinuate. Pronotum dark brown with lateral margins yellow. Scutellum dark brown with emargination distally.

Elytra dark brown with yellow portions from humeral region to distal 3/5, forming a transversal band at this point, each elytron with 9 costae, primary costae stronger, regular reticulate cells subsquare, pubescent, 3.2x longer than humeral width. Prosternum trapezoidal, legs compressed, dark brown, femur slightly compressed, as long as tibia, 3x longer than trochanter. Female abdominal sternum 9 rounded distally. Female genitalia with coxites elongate, each one with oblique emargination medially. Valvifers integrated into coxites, as long as half of coxites. Styli ½ of coxites length, proctiger oval ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 1 – 12 ). Body length: 6 mm, humeral width: 1.5 mm.

Distribution: Peru.

Remark: Examination of the holotype of Calleros bogotensis var. grandescapularis Pic, 1938 from Peru showed that the specimen is a member of the genus Plateros , representing a species separate from Plateros bogotensis Kirsch, 1865 known to occur in Colombia. Therefore, Calleros bogotensis var. grandescapularis Pic, 1938 is transferred to the genus Plateros and Plateros grandescapularis ( Pic, 1938) comb. et stat. n. is proposed. Mesosternum of the holotype is damaged, not visible.
