Etymology. From the Cebuano (a local Philippine dialect) word bukid , meaning mountain. A noun in apposition.

Description of holotype male. Head: Labium and mandible bases pale. Labrum shiny black except for yellow distal third. Genae pale, pale colour continued to eye margin and narrowly along eye margin from ridge of frons to level of antennal sockets. Anteclypeus pale with broad dark central band beneath postclypeus. Postclypeus black. Frons black, with distinct ridge, anterior face with paired transverse yellow streaks separated centrally. Vertex black with metallic reflection, broad yellow streak on antennal socket, top of scape pale, pale streak along anterior face of pedicel, rest of antennae brown. Remainder of head dark metallic green. A distinct tubercle situated anteriorly beside eye margin in postocular area.

Thorax: Prothorax dark metallic green except for pale transverse streak on crest of anterior lobe, lower part of propleuron. Shelf of posterior pronotal lobe ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) short, approximately rectangular and slightly depressed centrally. Horns of posterior pronotal lobe long, rearward and strongly downward directed (as in Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 , which shows a paratype), with tip below level of centre of mesinfraepisternum. Synthorax ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27 – 32 ) with dorsal carina equipped with short, blunt process arising at anterior 1/4 of its length. Mesinfraepisternum metallic green with irregular pale borders. Mesepisternum metallic green, mesepimeron mostly metallic green with pale streak along interpleural suture and smaller distal pale streak at mesepleural suture ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27 – 32 ). Metepisternum pale, large metallic green marking adjacent to antealar carina, slightly separated from small dark mark spanning metapleural suture, metepimeron otherwise pale. Legs with coxa and trochanter pale, femur and tibia pale with dark spines, blackish streaks on extensor surfaces and dark markings around joint. Tarsi brownish, without denticle. Wings hyaline with black veins. Arc at (left Fw) or slightly distal to Ax2; Ac near Ax2; petiolation ceases before level of Arc. R4 arising at or just before subnodus; IR3 beyond subnodus. 13 Px in all wings. Pt brown, approximately rectangular, costal side a little shorter than subcostal side.

Abdomen: S1 black dorsally. S2 dorsum black with metallic green reflection, becoming pale lower on sides; S3–7 black, paler lower laterally with narrow pale basal ring; S8–10 black with pale streak along lower margin. Cerci pale except for black apical fourth of upper branch, slightly more than twice length of S10. Fork of upper branch at ca 1/4 length ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 53 – 58 ). In lateral view upper branch shaped as in Fig. 42 View FIGURES 41 – 46 , flattened apically with small black tooth at tip. Spur ca half length of distance from S10 to base of fork in dorsal view, with rounded upper border, and dense setae on upper inner surface. In lateral view only tip of inner branch visible. Lower branch absent. Paraprocts typical for genus.

Measurements (mm): abdomen including cerci 42, Hw: 24.

Variation in males. Lake Balonoy population has horns of posterior pronotal lobe shorter.

Female. Similar to male except: mandible bases with black spot, yellow streaks on anterior portion of frons merged into one. Posterior pronotal lobe shown in Fig. 19 View FIGURES 19 – 26 . Px 14 in Fw and 15 in Hw; S8 black with yellow streak in basal half, S9 black restricted to dorsum except basally.

Measurements (mm): abdomen 39–40, Hw: 24–25.

Diagnosis. Distinguished from all species except S. dentifer and S. hamis by the absence of the lower branch of the cercus. Differs from S. hamis in the shape of the horns of the posterior pronotal lobe, in having a distinct tubercle on the dorsal carina of the synthorax and in the position of the fork of the upper branch of the cerci. Distinguished from S. dentifer by the more strongly downwardly directed horns of the posterior pronotal lobe, the smaller spur of the upper branch of the cerci in dorsal view and the more slender apical part of the upper branch in lateral view.
