Sangabasis hamis View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 , 37 View FIGURES 35 – 40 , 50 View FIGURES 47 – 52 , 62 View FIGURES 59 – 64 , 68 View FIGURE 68 )

Type material. Holotype: ♂, Philippines, Mindanao Island, Missamis Occidental, Calamba, Siloy, 19 v 2010, in RMNH, leg. RJTV & HC. Paratypes: 6 ♂, data as holotype, in coll. RJTV.

Other material: 6 ♂, location as holotype, 27 vii 2010, in coll. RJTV, leg. RJTV.

Etymology. From the Cebuano word hamis , meaning smooth, referring to the (almost) smooth dorsal carina of this species.

Description of holotype male. Head: Labium pale, mandible bases pale, darkening towards labrum. Labrum shiny black except for yellow distal third. Genae pale with central dark area, pale colour continued to eye margin and narrowly along eye margin from ridge of frons to level of antennal sockets. Anteclypeus pale with broad dark central band beneath postclypeus. Postclypeus black. Frons black, with distinct ridge, anterior face with paired transverse yellow streaks separated centrally. Vertex black with metallic reflection, broad pale streak on antennal socket, top of scape pale, pale streak along anterior face of pedicel, rest of antennae brown. Remainder of head dark metallic green. Distinct rounded tubercle situated anteriorly beside eye margin in postocular area.

Thorax: Prothorax dark metallic green except for pale transverse streak on crest of anterior lobe, and lower part of propleuron. Shelf of posterior pronotal lobe ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) short, approximately rectangular and slightly depressed centrally. Horns of posterior pronotal lobe long, flattened, rearward and slightly downwards directed, with tip at level of upper posterior corner of mesinfraepisternum. Synthorax ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ) with dorsal carina almost smooth, just a tiny process arising at ca 1/4 of its length. Mesinfraepisternum metallic green with partial pale border. Mesepisternum metallic green, tiny pale streak on mesepleural suture toward antealar carina. Mesepimeron mostly metallic green with pale streak along interpleural suture, not reaching antealar carina ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ). Metepisternum pale, large metallic green marking adjacent to antealar carina, slightly separated from small dark mark spanning metapleural suture, metepimeron otherwise pale. Legs with coxa and trochanter pale, femur and tibia pale with dark spines, blackish streaks on extensor surfaces and dark markings around joint. Tarsi yellowish, darkening apically, without denticle. Wings hyaline with black veins. Arc opposite or a little distal to Ax2, Ac near Ax2, petiolation ceases before level of Arc. R4 arising at subnodus; IR3 distal to subnodus. 14 Px in Fw, 13 Px in Hw. Pt dark brown; in Fw almost square, costal side shorter than subcostal side; rectangular in Hw.

Abdomen: S1 black dorsally. S2 dorsum black with metallic green reflection, pale laterally; S3–7 black, paler laterally with narrow, incomplete pale basal annuli; S8–10 black dorsally, pale laterally. Cerci pale, more than twice length of S10. Fork of upper branch at more than 1/3 length of upper branch ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 59 – 64 ). In lateral view upper branch shaped as in Fig. 50 View FIGURES 47 – 52 , flattened apically with small black interior tooth at tip. In dorsal view spur small, triangular, much shorter than distance from S10 to fork, bearing short white setae on its upper interior surface (not shown in Fig. 50 View FIGURES 47 – 52 ); short in lateral view. Lower branch absent. Paraprocts typical for genus.

Measurements (mm): abdomen including cerci 42, Hw 23.

Female. unknown.

Diagnosis. S. hamis is easily distinguished from all species except S. dentifer and S. bukid by the absence of the lower branch of the cercus. It is distinguished from S. dentifer and S. bukid by the almost smooth dorsal carina of the synthorax and by the structure of the posterior pronotal lobe and upper branch of the cercus.
