Type Locality: Puerto Rico, Cueva de la Ceiba, Hacienda Jobo (near Utuado).

Vernacular Names: Puerto Rican Cave Rat.

Distribution: Puerto Rico in cave deposits.

Conservation: Extinct.

Discussion: Nearly as large in body size as the Hispaniolan Hutia Plagiodontia aedium .
