Diagnosis. face and frons golden pruinose; palpus yellow, yellow setose; pronotum golden pruinose, scutum black, golden pruinose laterally; fore coxa yellow pruinose, yellow setose, mid and hind coxae black with reddish parts and yellow setae, femora yellow, tibiae reddish with apical third black; wing yellow basally and posteriorly, apical third slightly darkened; abdomen black with posterior margin brownish, tergite 1 with long yellow setae laterally, posterior margin with thin yellow setae.

Redescription. Holotype male. Measurements: body 17 mm; wing 12 mm. Head: face and frons golden pruinose; mystacal setae yellow; a tuft of black setae above insertion of each antenna; ocellar setae black; ocellar tubercle yellow pruinose, black setose; postocular setae yellow; occiput yellow pruinose; occipital setae yellow; palpus dark yellow with yellow setae; proboscis black with base ventrally light brown, thin yellow setae ventrally; scape and pedicel yellow, black setose, postpedicel brownish, basal half dorsally black setose. Thorax: second cervical sclerite golden yellow pruinose with thin yellow setae; pronotum golden pruinose, except medio-dorsally; margin of antepronotum yellow setose; postpronotum yellow setose laterally; proepisternum with thin yellow setae; postpronotal lobe reddish, with yellow setae; three notopleural, two supra-alar and two postalar setae, all black; scutum black, paramedial stripe laterally yellow pruinose; acrostichal setae present; dorsocentral setae at postpronotal lobe, black anteriorly and yellow near scutellum; scutellum yellow pruinose, pair of long marginal setae; pleura black with small golden yellow pruinose patches; anepisternum yellow setose. Legs: fore coxa yellow pruinose, yellow setose, mid and hind coxae black with some red parts and yellow setae; femora yellow, tibiae reddish, apical third black; tarsomeres black; femora, tibiae and tarsomeres with short black setae; tibiae with short yellow setae posteriorly. Wing: yellowish basally and posteriorly, apical third slightly darkened; alula hyaline; halter yellow-reddish. Abdomen: conical, black with posterior margins brownish, except tergite 8 yellow; tergite 1 with long yellow setae laterally, posterior margin with thin yellow setae; tergites 2–4 with short yellow setae laterally and posteriorly, tergites 5–8 black setose; sternites black, gray pruinose with thin yellow and black setae; terminalia yellow, black and yellow setose. Terminalia: not studied.

Male: Unknown.

Comments. Neodiogmites tauauna has the same color of N. lanei , but differs by not having thin setae between the marginal scutellar pair, protuberance at the base of the antennae lacking, and abdomen without yellow triangular patch of pruinescence laterally on tergites 2 and 3.

Geographic record. Brazil: Espírito Santo.

Type material examined. Holotype ♀. BRAZIL, Espírito Santo: Itapina, xi.1970, Elias col. ( MZUSP).
