Discussion: Phyllotini . Named as a subgenus of Euneomys , later elevated to genus ( Thomas, 1926 a), and reassociated as a subgenus of Phyllotis ( Ellerman, 1941; Osgood, 1947; Corbet and Hill, 1991). Revised by Hershkovitz (1962), who considered Galenomys a distinct genus, as did Pearson (1958); phylogenetic evaluation of morphological characters depicts Galenomys as closely related to species of Ausliscomys ( Braun, 1993; Steppan, 1995).
