Arcoptilia naumanni Ustjuzhanin & Kovtunovich View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 3 )

Type material: Holotype, male, ( ZMHB 201528), Angola, Benguela Catengue-Cubal, 830 m, 31.03.2014, S. Naumann.

Paratype, 2 ♂, 31.03.2014, 2 ♂, 24.03.2014, same data as holotype; 3 ♂, 23.03.2014, Angola, Benguela, 15 km E Cutembo, 1047 m; 1 ♂, 3–4.04.2014, Angola, Huila Ndongwe, 1345 m, S. Naumann. ( ZMHB, BMNH, CUK, MWM).

External characters. Wingspan 27–32 mm (holotype 30 mm). Head, thorax and tegulae grey brown. Labial palpus straight, grey, 1.5 times longer that eye diameter; third segment thinner and lighter. Antenna thin, dark-brown. Fore wing grey brown; costal margin pale up to cleft; first lobe with whitish longitudinal streak in middle part and with small pale spot in apical part; distal part of second lobe with white longitudinal streak; fringe inside cleft brown grey. Hind wing monochromatic, dark brown, slightly darker than fore wing; fringe of third lobe with well-defined black hairs along outer margin. Abdomen very long, almost 1.5 times longer than fore wing. Hind leg also very long, exceeding length of abdomen, light-brown, but darkened at base of spurs; with first pair of spurs located closer to femur, of unequal length; second pair of spurs equal in length.

Male genitalia. Valves symmetrical, elongated, narrowing in distal part; dorsal margin smooth; ventral margin angular. Sacculus narrow, sclerotized, reaching middle of valve. Tegumen arcuate. Uncus trough-like, concave, quite wide, narrowing at tip. Saccus wide, forked at tip. Phallus thin, slightly curved, widened at base and smoothly narrowing toward apex.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. In male genitalia, the new species is close to Arcoptilia pongola in the similar structure of the uncus, saccus and valves. But it differs from this species by the smooth inner margin of the valves, uncus narrowed to the tip and differently shaped phallus. Arcoptilia naumanni also differs externally in the absence of a dark spot on the fringe of the third lobe of the hind wings, light costal margin of fore wings, and long abdomen.

Distribution: Angola (Province of Benguela).

Flight period: March.

Etymology. The species is called after the famous entomologist Stefan Naumann (Berlin, Germany), who has collected this new species.
