Ocular peduncles long, cylindrical, corneae weakly dilated; ocular acicles triangular, broad at base, with rounded tip, and with subdistal spine inserted ventrally. Chelipeds unequal, right larger and stronger than left. Right cheliped with 2 lateral rows of spiniform tubercles on dorsal face of carpus; dorsal face of palm convex, with tubercles. Males with 1 right sexual tube. Telson divided by broad shallow cleft into 2 asymmetrical lobes; posterior margin of lobes armed with 4 or 5 spines.

Habitat. From shallow waters to 40 m. On muddy and rocky bottoms, calcareous algae and corals.
