Cimex gonymelas Donovan, 1798 : (nomen oblitum); Stenocephalus medius Mulsant & Rey, 1870: 248 (as new species); Stenocephalus horvathi Reuter, 1888: 67 ; Stenocephalus sibiricus Jakovlev, 1889: 76 ; Stenocephalus medius var. brevis Horváth, 1899: 448 ; Stenocephalus japonicus Lansbury, 1966: 91 .

Distribution in Iran. East Azarbaijan ( Ghahari et al. 2010c; Nikdel et al. 2011), Iran (no locality cited) ( Moulet 1995; Dolling 2006).

General distribution. Trans-Palearctic species, unknown in northern Russia or Scandinavia.
