Type locality and specimens. Deutsch Ostafrika (Massaisteppe). Bisher nur ♂ im Hamburger Museum. Dimensions. Truncuslänge 35 mm. [35.11; 51.11]
Oldest label. Rhagodes karschi Krpln , (= Rhax termes ♂ Karsch Original ex.). Dr. G.A. Fischer l. Soc. Georg. d. 1883, Masssaigebiet (Kraepelin handwriting).
Additional label. Rhagodes karschi Krpln. 1♂ —Typus—Massai. revid. 1931 Roewer—No. 8225.
Type material. Holotype ♂ (ZMH-A0000160).
Collection remarks. The type locality refers to the steppe regions in the land of the Massai people. Like Ceroma ornatum and Rhax termes , this specimen was collected by Gustav Fischer with the support of the Geographical Society of Hamburg. The labels do not state the original collection locality but based on the travel reports, the type locality lies in northern Tanzania and probably refers to the plains surrounding Mount Longido (as mentioned by Karsch when he described Rhax termes ).
