Type locality and specimens. Somaliland (Lugh).—U. FERRANDI leg.; Museo civico in Genua. Dimensions. ♂ Truncuslänge 13 mm. ♀ Truncuslänge 18 mm.

Oldest label. Solpuga ferrandii Krpln , ♀ ex typis, Ferrandi l., Mus. Genua 17/7 99. Lugh, Somaliland (Kraepelin handwriting).

Additional label. Ferrandia ferrandii (Krpl.) . 1♀ —ex Typ. (nov. gen.). Somaliland. Roewer det. 1932— No. 8523 ( Roewer handwriting).

Type material. Syntype ♀ (ZMH-A0000185).

Taxonomic remarks. The female specimen at the ZMH is part of the type series but the male should be in the Museo de Genova. This male should be designated as the lectotype and re-illustrated.

Current systematic position. Solpugidae , Ferrandia ferrandii ( Kraepelin 1899) .
