Solpuga globicornis Kraepelin 1899
Kraepelin 1899: 216–217, figs 4a–b (as S. globicornis n. sp.)
Type locality and specimens. Transvaal. Museum Berlin.
Dimensions. ♂ Truncuslänge 32 mm . ♀ Truncuslänge bis 44 mm. Oldest label. Solpuga globicornis Krpln , ♀ ex typis, Mus . Berlin c. 31.VIII.1899, Lydenburg, Transvaal (Kraepelin handwriting).
Additional label. Solpuga globicornis (Krpl.) 1♀ (ex Typ.)—Transvaal. Roewer revid. 1932—No. 8531 (Roewer handwriting).
Type material. Syntype ♀ (ZMH-A0000748).
Taxonomic remarks. Kraepelin does not clearly state how many specimens were available for the original description. The female in the ZMH collection definitely belongs to the type series, but according to Moritz & Fischer (1980) there are 1♂ and 2♀ syntypes at the ZMB (catalog no. 8023). These specimens need to be examined in order to designte a lectotype and illustrations produced from this type. The specimens may have been sent to Kraepelin by fellow arachnologist William Purcell who worked in South Africa.
Current systematic position. Solpugidae , Solpugyla globicornis ( Kraepelin 1899) .
