Tabanus syriacus Kröber View in CoL is an accepted name recorded from Palestine and Syria ( Leclercq 1961). Szilády (1923) described T. syriacus View in CoL from northern Syria, but Chvála et al. (1972) listed it as a variant under lunatus View in CoL .
