This species is a Mediterranean element with a wide distribution ( Abbassian-Lintzen 1964). It is known from, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and Syria ( Abu El-Hassan et al. 2019). Moreover, it was recorded from Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Algeria, and China ( Müller et al. 2012c). Under laboratory conditions, the species was identified as a vector of trypanosomiasis in camels and horses (Al-Talafha et al. 2004).
