Distribution. Known only from type locality in E Kenya. View Figure

Descriptive notes. Head—body 49 mm, tail 49 mm, ear 13 mm, hindfoot 10 mm, forearm 40-5 mm; weight 7 g (type specimen). Dorsal pelageis sepia-brown, with head and nape paler and without shoulder spot and flank-stripe. Ventral pelage is paler than dorsal pelage. Head has tuft of whitish hair on nose, thick band of white hairs extending from antitragus to base of ear, and whitish patches behind each ear. Ears are moderately rounded, separate, and short for a vespertilionid but of medium length for a Glauconycteris . Inner margin has small subtriangular lobe at base, and outer margin connects with fleshy lobe on lowerlip near corner of mouth. Eyes are very small. Wings are pale brownish yellow, with faint venation. Dorsal surface has blackish brown skin over bones of wings, legs, and tail. Uropatagium is slightly darker than wings. Tibia is long (20 mm, type specimen) for Glauconycteris . Skull is small, and profile of forehead is weakly concave compared with other Glauconycteris . 1? is unicuspid but with slight, posterior, blade-like ridge. Lower incisors are tricuspid and not markedly crowded.

Habitat. Perhaps restricted to lower coastal plains of Kenya and adjacent regions.

Status and Conservation. Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCN Red Last, as it 1s known only from the holotype and might be threatened by logging and agriculture.
