Remarks. Spratt and Varughese, 1975 described two females placing them in the genus Johnstonema on the basis of the size of the worms and the form of the buccal capsule, but in the absence of males did not name the species. A single, unfertilised, female specimen from the heart of a koala at Healesville Sanctuary is the only other similar material which has come to hand (see below). The potential for transmission of parasites to non–normal hosts in zoos and faunal sanctuaries must not be overlooked.
