According to Walker and Wharton (2011), Opius paradoxus Ratzeburg, 1848, sometimes treated as a valid name (synonymous with abnormis) should be regarded as invalid as it was first proposed as a synonym of abnormis; Walker and Wharton (2011) also provide some locality data.
