Examined material. Six females ( YB; CNIN IB-UNAM), " Guyane Française, Montagne des Chevaux, 7.VIII.2011, Piège Malaise, rec. S.E.A.G. 2011"; " Guyane Française, Montagne de Kaw, Relais Patawa, IX.2000, (Malaise trap, 4° 32’ 42.20’’N- 52° 09’ 09.19’’W), A.E.I. Guyane-J. CERDA leg"; "Massikiri-Oyapock, Guyane, 17.XI.1969, Piège lumineux" " Guyane, Mission Balachowsky-Gruner, Oct-Nov 1969".

Comments. The examined specimens assigned to this species agree with the description of E. spathiiformis , having a swollen scutellum, metasoma inserted at 0.3x the maximal height of mesosoma (in lateral view and measured from the top), and distance between metasomal insertion and upper side of hind coxa foramina about 0.9x as long as hind coxa length. However, one of the morphological features employed by Fischer (1981) to separate E. areolatus from E. spathiiformis , the first subdiscal cell of forewing closed, has actually beeb wrongly recorded in the latter species. According to our observations, in E. spathiiformis the forewing vein 2-cu-a is always infuscated, looking like a sclerotized vein and leading to the erroneous conclusion that the first subdiscal cell is closed. The first subdiscal cell of fore wing is open apically in all the described species of Evaniodes .
