Jeannel, 1933: 251 (assignment to subgenus, as a general statement), 1949: 101 (assignment to group). Note: With two subspecies.

Distribution: Widespread in eastern U.S. A; Mexico: Nuevo León State. Biology: Common troglophile, also in forests.

P. c. aditus Peck, 1973a: 127, 1973b: 103 (no new record); 1977: 193 (no new record). Holotype male in MCZC (n° 31961). Type locality: Cueva de la Boca, 20 mi SSE Monterrey, near Santiago, Nuevo León State, Mexico. Distribution: Mexico: Nuevo León State: known only from type locality.
