Chaetocnemistoptera semifurcata (Borgmeier)
( Fig 4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 )
Hypocera semifurcata Borgmeier, 1923a: 629 View in CoL .
Chaetocnemistoptera semifurcata ; Borgmeier, 1923b: 51; Brown, 1992a: 52. Chaetopleurophora semifurcata View in CoL ; Borgmeier, 1961: 4; 1968: 14.
Chaetocnemistoptera furcamperdens ; Schmitz, 1927: 32; 1929: 94; Borgmeier, 1961: 3 (syn.).
Diagnosis. No useful diagnosis can be given as no males could be associated with the female holotype.
Material examined. Holotype ♀, BRAZIL: Rio de Janeiro: Petrópolis, 8.x.1922, B. Ronchi col. ( MZSP).
Comments. The association of males to the female holotype of C. semifurcata (as made by Borgmeier, 1961) cannot be made with confidence by this time. Four of the new species ( C. lobata , C. magdalena , C. trichopoda , C. pityropyga ) described herein can be diagnosed only by male structures. All could possibly be the male of C. semifurcata , as they show a similar coloration and chaetotaxy to the female holotype of this species.
