Genus: Cryptofavognathus gen. nov.
Type species: Favognathus afyonensis Koç & Akyol, 2004 .
Diagnosis. Adult female. Idiosoma flattened dorsoventrally, both surfaces evenly punctated, with 11 pairs of dorsal body setae; one pair of eyes and one pair of postocular bodies laterally between setae sce and c 2; a single holonotal sclerite laterally separating the dorsum and venter; slit-like cupules instead of rounded cupules; a protective hood anterior of the propodosoma and an retractable gnathosoma; chelicerae separate; palp five-segmented, subcapitulum with two pairs of adoral setae distally and one pair of subcapitular setae proximally; prosternal apron not dimpled; ventral opisthosoma with two pairs of aggenital setae; genital opening longitudinal, with two pairs of setae adjacent to genital opening; anal shield terminally and separated from genital shield, with three pairs of pseudanal setae; coxisternal shields absent; leg tarsal claws present.
Adult male. Genital and anal openings fused, with an aedeagus, genital setae absent; having same number of tarsal solenidia as female, solenidia ω on tarsi I–IV enlarged; setae h 1, h 2 and f 1 closely associated.
Etymology. The genus name, Cryptofavognathus , is a combination of the prefix Crypto of the genus name Cryptognathus , with the genus name Favognathus .
Remarks. The new genus Cryptofavognathus is similar to the genera Cryptognathus and Favognathus . It can easily be distinguished from Cryptognathus by having two pairs of genital setae. This genus also can be separated from Favognathus by having a transparent prosternal apron. This is an intermediate genus between the genera Cryptognathus and Favognathus .
