Vespa binghami du Buysson, 1905 (1904) : 523. Lectotype female (designated by van der Vecht, 1959: 210); Myanmar: Toungoo, ‘Taungoo Hills’ (PARIS).

Vespa suprunenkoi Birula, 1925 (1924) : 92. Lectotype female (designated by Kurzenko, 2004: 197); Korea: Sakhalin Is. (ST. PETERSBURG).

Distribution. India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, China, Russia, Korea. Discussion. This is a high altitude species, found between 200 m and 2,000 m ( Archer 1999). Zhang (1989) reported the presence of Vespa binghami in Miocene deposits in Shandong, China, but this identification needs to be verified.
