Type locality. Sudan: Sennaar.
Distribution. Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Remark. Candèze (1857) described T. punctatus from Sennaar in Sudan. Laurent (1964d) had not been able to find any types specimen from Sudan, and he designated the lectotype and allotype from Senegal.
