21. Ponera intricata View in CoL   HNS . B.M.

Worker. Length 5 lines.-Black and shining: the mandibles, legs, and apex of the abdomen ferruginous; the flagellum obscurely ferruginous; the head evenly and deeply grooved, longitudinally so on the face, and transversely so on the vertex; the antennae as long as the insect. Thorax: the dilated portion with transverse grooves on the disk, enclosed by curved ones; the thorax beyond much compressed, with a central longitudinal groove above, the sides obliquely striated; the truncation of the apex oblique and transversely striated. The node of the abdomen compressed, rounded in front and above, and obliquely grooved; the margin of the truncation with two acute spines above, directed backwards. The basal segment of the abdomen with curved striae, slightly impressed and obliterated at the sides; the apical margins of the segments rufo-piceous.
