TYPE. VIETNAM. Son La Province, Thuan Chau District, Chieng Pha Commune, remnants of primary evergreen broad-leaved forest on limestone mountain, 9 Sept. 2022, Nguyen Sinh Khang, Lo Trung Van, AL 1593 ( LE!- Holotype, HN, LE!- Isotype).

DISTRIBUTION. Thailand (Doi Inthanon), Vietnam (Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Son La)

SPECIMEN EXAMINED. THAILAND, Doi Inthanon , Gunnar Seidenfaden TS 7631 ( C!) ; VIETNAM, Son La Province: Thuan Chau District, Chieng Pha Commune , remnants of primary evergreen broad-leaved forest on limestone mountain, 9 Sept. 2022, Nguyen Sinh Khang, Lo Trung Van, AL 1593 ( LE!) ; Dien Bien Province: Tuan Giao District, Toa Tinh Municipality , 15 August 2022, Nguyen Phi Tam, AL 1592 ( LE!) ; Ha Giang province: Quan Ba district, Bat Dai Son Nature Reserve , 21 Oct. 2022, V. D. Nguyen, K. S. Nguyen, X. T. Trinh, V.N. Vu, F. M. Scott, H. Daniel, W. Mark, T. Marchlik, VN-US 02 ( LE!) .

NOTES. This recently described species from Vietnam ( Averyanov et al. 2023) bears close resemblance to C. fimbriata and C. fuliginosa , but clearly differs due to presence of a thin, narrowly cylindric pseudobulb, six (or five) undulate labellum keels and the wings of the column which are longer and expands to more than half the length of column. Interestingly, Seidenfaden (1975: fig. 4) had illustrated a specimen of C. fimbriata from Thailand (Doi Inthanon; TS 7631) with five keels, which is most definitely C. phitamii , as it has erect and wider keels, and has hairs all along the labellum margin till the base (while C. fimbriata labellum keels are of smaller size and the margin is devoid of hair at the base), but erroneously mentioned it as C. fimbriata . Therefore, we report an extension in the range of this species to Thailand, based on a historic record.

TYPE. MYANMAR. Moulmein , 1860, C. S. P Parish 160 (W-Holotype; K!- Isotype) .

DISTRIBUTION. Myanmar, Thailand

SPECIMEN EXAMINED. MYANMAR, Moulmein, C.S.P Parish 160 (K!); G.E.R. Cooper & C.E. Parkinson 6404 (K!); M.A. Vanimschoot s.n. (K!).

NOTES. The etymology refers to the 3-folded carinae at the base of the labellum. The species for which the type specimen was provided by John Day, presumably from Moulmein (by Parish), was previously synonymized under C. fuliginosa and C. ovalis at different times ( Clayton 2002; also refer the Kew specimen). Following the delineation done by Pelser et al. (2000) based on phenetics of morphological traits, accepted status of the species has subsequently never been questioned. Although similar to C. fimbriata , this species differs by having a larger flower, shorter cilia on epichile margins and swollen keels.
