Gryllacris (Pardogryllacris) lineolata menzeli Karny, 1924a View in CoL

Figs. 11 View FIGURE 11 E–F, 12M, 17J–K

Material examined. Indonesia: Java, Buitenzorg [= Bogor], Gunung Mas , 1–31.xii.1918, A. J. Garretsen— 1 male (Wien NHMW) ; East Java, Tengger Mountains , 1.i.1890 – 31.xii.1894, H. Fruhstorfer— 1 female (Wien NHMW) .

Description. Medium sized species. Head: Face narrow ovoid; forehead nearly smooth with scattered impressed dots; fastigium verticis hardly wider than scapus, separated by a narrow suture from fastigium frontis; ocelli small but distinct; subocular furrow present ( Fig. 12M View FIGURE 12 ).

Wings surpassing hind knees ( Figs. 11 View FIGURE 11 E–F). Tegmen: Radius with two branches, both forked near tip; media anterior has a common stem with radius, arises as first posterior branch of R behind end of basal third of tegmen; media posterior absent; cubitus anterior with unbranched stem leaning on radius or temporarily fused with it in basal quarter of tegmen, in tegmen mid-length it forks into CuA1 and CuA2 (left tegmen) or stays single branched (right tegmen); cubitus posterior undivided, free throughout; with 4 Anal veins the last two with common stem.

Coloration. General color yellowish brown. Face reddish brown; lower part of clypeus yellowish. Tegmen surface yellowish transparent, main veins yellowish; cross-veins and all veins in costal area dark brown to black; hind wing yellowish transparent; cross-veins dark brown to black and bordered on both sides by a little distinct dark band.

Male. Abdominal tergites as in the nominate subspecies.

Female. Seventh abdominal sternite of normal shape. Subgenital plate with lateral margins forming a subbasal lateral angle, apical margin bi-angulate, with transverse furrow, behind furrow apical area little elevated and on both sides about halfway between midline and lateral margin with a convex carina that just before apical angles of plate turn in an angle medio-proximad to meet each other in midline; the basal area of the plate split in midline and from the membranous surface of the divided area arises an elongate sclerotised process that covers the base of the posterior part of the plate ( Fig. 17K View FIGURE 17 ). Ovipositor elongate, moderately curved, behind base more strongly curved, and with lateral furrow; apical area slightly thickened, subacute ( Fig. 17J View FIGURE 17 ).

Discussion. The species and subspecies of Pardogryllacris described from Java as P. lineolata with its subspecies P. l. menzeli require a revision with a detailed study of the abdominal appendages to verify the differentiation and distribution of the taxa described.
