scientific name

Pyralis eleuana
status

eleuana Fabricius, 1787

Pyralis eleuana Fabricius, 1787: 234 ; 1794: 269.

Type locality. Austria (“Habitat in Austria Mus. Dom. Schieffermyller”).

Material examined. None.

Identity. Acleris scabrana ( Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775) ( Tortricinae , Tortricini ).

Remarks. This name presumably was described in synonymy with Tortrix scabrana D. and S., which was referred to as Phalaena scabrana by Fabricius (1794). The specific name is better known through the incorrect spelling elevana (e.g., Brown 2005).
