Type locality. England (“Habitat in Anglia. Mus. Dom. Yeats”).

Material examined. None.

Identity. Aethes smeathmanniana (Fabricius) ( Tortricinae , Cochylini ) ( Billberg 1820).

Remarks. This is the type species of Aethes Billberg, 1820 by subsequent designation by Fernald (1908); it is a well known Holarctic species.
