3. Syringophiloidus minor (Berlese, 1880) 

This species was reported from various places worldwide (Asia, Europe, Russia, North and South America, Africa) (review in Skoracki 2004 c). Previously S. minor  was reported from six passerine hosts: the House Sparrow Passer domesticus  , (L.), the Eurasian Tree Sparrow P. montanus  (L.) ( Ploceidae  ), the Redwing Turdus iliacus  (L.) ( Turdidae  ), the Common Starling Sturnus vulgaris  L. ( Sturnidae  ), the Black-faced Canary Serinus capistratus (Finsch et Hartlaub)  and the European Greenfinch Carduelis chloris  (L.) ( Fringillidae  ) ( Skoracki 2004 c; Natress & Skoracki 2007).

Material examined. From quills (secondaries and tail feathers) of the House Sparrow Passer domesticus  (L.): 23 females, 4 males, 11 nymphs and 2 larvae (Syr. 94 C); Jordan (new locality), Al-Dhleil, 15 March 2003, leg. M. Skoracki. From quills (secondaries and tail feathers) of the Spanish Sparrow Passer hispaniolensis (Temminck)  (new host): 18 females, 6 males, 10 nymphs, 1 larva (Syr. 185); Jordan, Al-Dhleil, 18 March 2003, leg. M. Skoracki. From quills (coverts) of the Song Thrush Turdus philomelos Brehm  ( Turdidae  ) (new host): 12 females, 7 nymphs (Syr. 186); Jordan, Al-Dhleil, 0 5 March 2003, leg. M. Skoracki.
