COMMON NAME (S): Grass moth or Crambid Snout Moth. SYNONYM(S): Asopia dotatalis Walker, 1866a View in CoL ; Syngamia suffectalis Walker, 1866a ; Syngamia aeruginosa Ghesquière, 1942 View in CoL .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Australia, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritius, Nigeria, Réunion, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa,

Taiwan, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Mazabuka and Sinazongwe, in Southern Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants of the taxon include: Four Lamiaceae species ( Perilla sp. , Coleus sp. , Ocimum sp. and Mentha sp. ) and one Theaceae species ( Camellia japonica L.) in the Réunion; two Lamiaceae species ( Hyptis

sp. and Ocimum sp. ) in the Democratic Republic of Congo; one Lamiaceae species ( Coleus dysentericus

Baker) in Senegal; two Lamiaceae species ( Plectranthus sp. and Ocimum basilicum L.), two Malvaceae species ( Gossypium hirsutum L. and another but yet to be identified Gossypium sp. ) and one Asteraceae species ( Elephantopus sp. ) in the Seychelles; one Lamiaceae species ( Plectranthus rotundifolius

(Poir.) Spreng.) in an unnamed African country or countries. The African Moths (2019) wepage lists six Lamiaceae species (i.e. Mentha sp. , Coleus dysentericus Baker , Perilla sp. , Ocimum basilicum L.,

Hyptis sp. and Plectranthus scutellarioides (L.) R.Br.), one Theaceae species ( Camellia japonica L.),

one Asteraceae species ( Pseudelephantopus spicatus (Juss. ex Aubl.) Rohr ) and one Malvaceae species

( Gossypium hirsutum L.) as larval food plants of the taxon. No specific host plants or larval foodplants are yet associated with this taxon in Zambia.
