COMMON NAME (S): Ornate pearl, Ornate Hydriris, Kumara skeletoniser, Ornate Hydriris Moth.

SYNONYM(S): Nymphula saturnalis Treitschke, 1835 ; Pyralis bifascialis Heeger, 1838 ; Pyralis deciusalis Walker, 1859d ; Botys invenustalis Walker, 1866a ; Cataclysta fraterna Butler, 1875a ; Stenia pulchellalis Mabille, 1880a ; Ercta orientalis Yamanaka, 1972 .

DISTRIBUTION: Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Cook Islands, Croatia, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Gambia, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Portugal, Réunion, Saint Helena , Serbia and Montenegro, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, USA (Florida), Western Sahara, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Choma, in Southern Province ; Ndola, in Copperbelt Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include: three Convolvulaceae species namely, Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam., I. aquatica Forssk. and Ipomoea calophylla Fenzl ; one Fabaceae species called Acacia monticola J.M.Black ; one Rosaceae species called Malus pumila Mill. and; one Polygonaceae species called Emex spinosa (L.) Campd.
