Mangelia secreta View in CoL ( Van Aartsen & Fehr-de Wal 1978)

( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 )

Mangiliella secreta Van Aartsen & Fehr-de Wal 1978: 102 View in CoL , 105, fig.5

Material: 06.09.2019, Taşucu, Levantine Sea, muddy sand with shell fragments, 25 m, 1 spm (sub-adult) ( ESFM- GAS/2019-15 View Materials ) .

Remarks: The investigated specimen was a subadult, with orthocline axial ribs on the teleoconch whorls (on the body whorl 9 ribs) somewhat narrower to the suture, and a spiral sculpture consisting of weak and strong striae. Based on the shell shape and number of spirals on the teleoconch whorls, the species appears similar mainly to some specimens of Mangelia unifasciata with light color, from which it differs by its paucispiral protoconch and light rust colored spiral band on the middle part of the body whorl. Mangelia secreta is also similar to some specimens of Mangelia striolata [previously named as Mangelia caerulans (Philippi) ] in terms of the color band on the body whorl, but M. striolata differs from this species in terms of its protoconch and teleoconch shapes, and its very fine spiral sculpture.

Distribution: Mediterranean Sea ( Van Aartsen & Fehr-de Wal 1978). Turkish coasts: Levantine Sea ( Van Aartsen & Fehr-de Wal 1978).
