Remarks: Shell with multispiral protoconch. Teleoconch sculpture consists of orthocline and flexuous axial ribs and flexuous growth lines. On the body whorl 9 axial (rarely 8) ribs. The species is a quite similar to Mangelia tenuicosta . In some references (e.g., Gruppo Malacologico Livornese and Gruppo Malacologica Romagnolo 2005) the presence of incised striae in M. attenuata has been noted as a diagnostic difference between the two species. However, this feature does not seem to reliably distinguish these species because it was only evident (under x 40 magnification) on all teleoconch whorls in just one specimen, whereas the majority of the specimens exhibited axial ribs that were smooth or with evident striae on the earlier 1–3 whorls only. Shell height up to 10 mm.

Distribution: Eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea ( Gofas et al. 2011). Turkish coasts: Levantine Sea, Aegean Sea and Sea of Marmara (Özt̹rk et al. 2014).
